Gettin’ Brothy With It…Its Bone Broth baby!!

Posted in Bone Broth

Bone broth, to me, is life.  I cant get enough of this stuff and it is extremely healthy for you as well. Did you know that bone broth can boost your immune system, encourage healthy skin and hair and can also promote healthy bones? It also builds and protects muscle tissue, these are just some of the benefits of it.  There are various ways you can make this delicious stuff.  You can use different types of bones together (beef, chicken and turkey) or whatever ones you have on hand.

I used only beef bones this time and also roasted the bones and veggies before placing them in my 8 qt. pot.  My simple recipe is below, check it out! 🙂

!!!!SIDE NOTE!!!! Save your veggie scraps for veggie stock, see my post on how to make home made veggie stock!! click here

Bone Broth

  • 6 carrots, cut in chunks
  • bunch of celery, cut in chunks
  • 2 onions, cut in chunks
  • some spices like, parsley thyme, dill weed, cilantro etc. or whatever you like
  • a couple bay leaves
  • some pepper or peppercorns
  • 3 large beef bones

Preheat oven to 450° place bones and veggies in a roasting pan, this is the one I have: https://amzn.to/2N4zvH9 or baking sheet, bake for 20 minutes.

Stir the veggies and bake another 20 minutes or so

Remove all the bones and veggies ( all the little brown crunchies too) from the pan and place in a big pot, cover with water just above the bones and  veggies..add the spices

Cover the pot and bring to a boil over medium heat, then down to low and simmer.  Skim off any foamy stuff that may float to the top.  I cook for about 5 hours, you can cook up to 8 hours, some people cook it longer.  I strain it and make sure to smush the veggies to get all the juices out.

That’s is guys!! not hard at all right?? See, I told ya 🙂  Whats your take on Bone Broth? Love it? Hate it? Scared to try it? Whats your favorite way to make it?  I’d love to hear from you so comment below!

Talk to you soon!
